A culinary phenomenon since 1984, The Emerald has created some of the most imaginative dishes which continue to give great pleasure to many discerning customers and visitors to Austin,Texas.
Marge Kinsella, originally from Aughadeffin, a small village in the West of Ireland near Knock Shrine, came to America in 1957. She met and married the love of her life, Paul, a wonderful, kind man, devoted husband and brilliant father. In 1978, they moved to Austin, Texas along with their four children and opened the Emerald to share the beauty and charm of Ireland by opening the Emerald. It is a recreation of a small Irish cottage, complete with Irish china, lovely lace tablecloths and fine crystal. Everything is made from scratch and many of the recipes are ones that our mom, Marge grew up with in Ireland- Please take a moment when you have a chance to go through our menu and you will get a better idea of it all-it is very lovely because each menu item is named after an Irish memory that was special to our mom-so very unique- just like our mom.
We feature an outstanding wine list as well as a full bar that includes our wonderful Irish Coffee made with, of course, genuine Irish whiskey or Irish Mist. We encourage special requests and would be delighted to prepare any special dietary meals for you. Everything is prepared to order, so let us know if you need anything at all to make your special evening with us completely enjoyable.
Please visit our site again as we plan on adding more stories, pictures and recipes-each day we get better at posting and navigating-please bear with us!
We so look forward to having you as our guests and as they say in Ireland-Failte!!
Many of our dinners are presented on a silver platter, carved and flambeed at your tableside-how lovely! It is a lost art and we truly enjoy being able to offer it to our guests. Here is our roast loin of pork in puff pastry for two-it is absolutely delicious!
The Emerald fashions a unique menu of European cuisine served with unparalled charm and elegance. Amongst gentle Irish music and the sparkle of imported crystal and Irish china in a quaint 1927 cottage, you will sit in the midst of romance within this establishment celebrated over for its culinary creations and transcendent atmosphere.
Attentive service, his/her menus, and attention to detail are just a few of the touches that make the Emerald an opulent, palate-pampering experience.Founders, Marge and Paul Kinsella, along with their children, had a vision of what fine dining combined with the elegance and charm of the native homeland should be and opened the Emerald 26 years ago. The extensive selection of entrees include fresh lobster and seafood, prime, succulent beef, roast duck and quail-to name a few. Our fine wine list and full bar leave nothing to be desired and please let us know if you would like a particular wine to accompany your meal.
